A Vibrant, Urban Center
South of Market (SoMa) is a vast and vibrant district. The neighborhood spans Embarcadero to 11th Street, between Market and Townsend, and is known for having excellent weather, making it ideal for walking and biking. SoMa features many mixed-use spots, warehouses, design showrooms, nightspots, and art spaces. Homes range from luxury highrise residences to converted warehouses. In fact, the abundance of once-affordable warehouse spaces became some of the first incubators during the dot-com revolution. Today, the area is home to many tech startups, companies, and artisan coffee shops where entrepreneurs pitch new business ideas.
SoMa is the epicenter of all San Francisco has to offer! Locals enjoy first-class dining at Palette, Mourad, and Birdsong, as well as the Epicurean’s Wonderland and the flagship Whole Foods at Trinity Place. Museums, luxury hotels, and various forms of entertainment and shopping attract visitors worldwide. Union Square, the Ferry Building, Showplace Square, and Westfield Center offer a variety of shopping experiences. Easy transportation via BART and Muni and quick access to the 101 or 280 freeways make moving about the Bay Area a breeze.
